Requirements for Applications

Application Form

Applications must be mailed or brought into the centre in person. Applications cannot be faxed or done through the internet. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

New Identity Procedure

As of July 2011, IELTS has implemented new procedures that require all candidates to visit our office for a fingerprint scan and an on-site photograph in addition to those required for the application. This is a mandatory procedure and must be completed by all applicants in advance of their test or on the morning of their testing day. Residents of Calgary and candidates who do not wish to go through this process on the morning of their test day should visit our office during business hours for identity registration.

Each application must include:

• 2 passport-sized pictures, both signed on the back (see guidelines below)
• A photocopy of your passport showing name, number, picture and expiry date
• Your test fee payment (We accept Cash, Debit, Money Orders, Visa and Mastercard. We do not accept checks)
• Addresses of institutions where you would like additional test results mailed (if applicable)
• Postage charges (if applicable)

General Requirements

• 1. Provide two identical colour photographs that have a date stamp no more than 6 months old.
• 2. Photos should be standard Canadian passport size; a minimum of 35 mm in width and 45 mm in height.
• 3. Photos must be a professional print. Photos from photo-booths or personal cameras are not acceptable.
• 4. The photo should feature a close-up of the candidate's head including both the top of the head and the shoulders.
• 5. Both ears should be showing, or the edges of the candidates face should be visible.
• 6. Candidate must not be wearing glasses or otherwise obscuring their eyes.
• 7. Photographs must feature a plain white background with no objects or patterns.
• 8. The candidate must have a neutral facial expression with their mouth closed.
• 9. Head coverings worn for religious purposes are permitted. However, the edges of your face as well as your forehead and chin must be visible.
• 10. You must include your signature on the back of the stamped photograph.
